Elring plans expansion of French and Italian product range
Elring is the aftermarket brand of ElringKlinger AG, which is committed to further expanding its market position by means of a corporate acquisition: the Group plans to take over the static-metal-gaskets business operated by Freudenberg & Co. KG, Weinheim, Germany.

In implementing the acquisition, ElringKlinger will be looking to strengthen its international position within the field of cylinder-head gaskets and highly heat-resistant specialty gaskets for engines and exhaust systems. In the area of specialty gaskets, the company will have the opportunity to extend its portfolio by adding new products and applications in the rapidly growing segment of turbochargers and exhaust recirculation. Thus, the range of products will be significantly expanded with regard to the French and Italian spare parts range.

The takeover is focused on the Freudenberg subsidiary Burgmann Automotive GmbH, Gelting, Germany, part of Freudenberg-Meillor S.A.S., Nantiat, France, as well as Oigra Meillor s.r.l., Turin, Italy.

In 2009, Freudenberg generated revenue of EUR 38 million with its cylinder-head and exhaust system gasket business. It employed 370 people.
